Surgery News

Jereth without the tubes and wires... for a few minutes.
We met with Jereth's pediatric cardiologist on Thursday. She said there is a cardiologist with Primary Children's that is taking the lead on getting Jereth's surgery scheduled. His goal is to have the surgery done by the end of February. Our doctor here said it will more likely be early March. We're hoping to have a definite date soon -- again.

Fortunately, Jereth continues to do quite well. He slept well last night without any air assist so he's gone over 36 hours without needing help with his breathing. He had several rough nights after coming home from the hospital but improved steadily when we started using the inhaler regularly again. The doctor at St. Luke's changed the dosing from twice a day to as needed but said we could go back to the dosage prescribed at Primary Children's if we felt he needed it - and we definitely feel it has made a big difference.

The ear, nose, and throat doctor (ENT) said the biopsies she took during the bronchioscope came back positive for a bacteria common with chronic sinus infections. Since Jereth also had several symptoms of sinus infections she put him on antibiotics. He seems to be more comfortable now that he's been on the antibiotic for a few days.
