Mom's First Day Back at Work
Yesterday was my first day back at work since Jereth was born. It was harder on me than on Jereth since he had both Dad and big brother, Spencer, taking care of him. He seemed to handle the transition very well.

Doctors' Visits
Today was spent with doctors. We first went to see Dr. Eloisa Walker, the pediatric cardiologist. Jereth is looking much better than when he went to the hospital a week and a half ago and has reached the milestone of weighing more than he did at birth. She ordered a test to check his thyroid functioning as well as an electrocardiogram (EKG). We'll know the results next time we see her, on December 10th.

Dr. Walker says she is now able to hear a murmur in Jereth's heart, something that could not be heard at birth because the hole is so big. Apparently being able to hear it us a good sign. It means pressures in his heart are closer to where they should be.

It sounds like his surgery will take place mid to late January instead of late January to early February as we thought before. Location is still up in the air - it will depend on where there is a qualified surgeon with time in his/her schedule for the surgery.

After we finished having the tests done that Dr. Walker ordered we came back to Emmett to see Dr. Brett Mumford, our primary care physician. We spent quite a bit of time with him discussing what had happened with Jereth, what medications he is taking, the program for his feedings and the plan for his surgery. It's nice to have a dedicated local doctor keeping tabs on everything that is going on with our precious baby. We are very grateful that he recommended the echocardiogram that showed the heart problems and gave a reason for Jereth's lack of growth. Jereth has a much better chance because the doctors know what they are dealing with.
